I'm happy to announce that I received my first official fan mail for Off the Hook and it couldn't have come from a more perfect place!
Tracie, from Williamsport Ohio, had bought a book from the Westfall Middle School a few weeks ago for her granddaughter, Kylee. Last week, Tracie sent me an email with the following after she gave it to her granddaughter:
"Kylee was so excited with the book that she didn't put it down until she finished it, she is eight years old. The note you wrote in the front made her so happy. That evening she had me help with painting on a piece of slate, when we were done she told me it was a thank you gift for you for writing the book. I was wondering if you would have a problem with me mailing you the gift? She is determined that you get it."
Thank you Kylee for the painting and your determination to to get it to me -- I LOVE your work and will take great care of it! I also want to thank Tracie for taking the time to send it to me -- it completely made...
My wife and I had a great time talking a little "Off the Hook" & "The Good Mood Book" at the Holy Spirit Arts and Crafts Show and the Art Walk this weekend!
I'd like to thank everyone who bought some books and to also say it was a pleasure hanging with all the vendors around us at both shows! One of them did some custom Santa hat stitching (see pic below) while another is even going to craft a Rob Banks ornament out of clay for us -- we are on a mission to collect every ornament from Off the Hook so if you can't buy it, make it!
I'd also like to send out a special thanks to Lisa Nemeth who does a phenomenal job running these shows and works her tail off!
I hope to be able to share something really cool that a school in the Dominican Republic is doing with Off the Hook this Christmas season so stay tuned!
We had a great weekend at the Mistletoe Magic event at the Dayton Convention Center that included meeting a lot of terrific folks who checked out/bought the book as well as meeting the amazing "Hoosier Santa" who was kind enough to send us the spectacular picture above!
And speaking of spectacular -- wait until you see some of his various costumes below that he wore throughout the show.
Amazing, eh? And that's just a few of them! We'd like to thank Hoosier Santa for the pictures and of course for his great company over the two days. You can learn more about Hoosier Santa at his web site here.
Next I want to give a big thank you to the organizers for the promotion which included this fun little blurb in their handout:
Finally I want to send a special thanks out to Andy, Jodi, their adorable daughter Lydia (seen below) and the biggest supporter of this book, Junior, for their visit to our table. We love you guys!
The pic above is now the official "Off The Hook Coat Rack" which was a surprise gift from my Uncle Paul over the weekend. Paul specializes in woodworking and as you can see -- he can make just about anything you'd ever want from wood including coat racks inspired by books! So cool!
As for the weekend -- the Arvai's had a great time working the Off the Hook table at the Pickerington Holiday Gathering and Wilmington Homespun events. There were great turnouts at both and a whole lotta books and ornaments sold! We can't thank everyone enough for their support and we hope you all enjoy the book along with your Chardonays, Bottlecaps, and Strikes!
I had a couple of stories I want to share from the weekend. First was from a grandma who had actually brought a book from us at the Grove City show in November. She was at the Pickerington Holiday Gathering on Friday and stopped by to tell us that her granddaughter read the book and after she had to go ou...
WOW -- I just gotta say the great folks over at the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church Arts & Crafts Show sure know how to support a Christmas story book! In one day you all nearly matched my sales from two days at the Grove City Show -- and those sales were really good!
I can't thank you all enough for your support and we had a blast chatting with you all!
I'd also like to send out a special thanks to my in-laws Pat and Ken for arranging this one and to Helen for all the print promotion!
If any of you ever need anything just shoot me over an email at email@example.com and I'll take care of it!
