Founded in Toronto, Canada the Book Excellence Awards is an international book awards competition dedicated to recognizing both independent and traditionally published authors and publishers for excellence in writing, design and overall market appeal. Previous Winners and Finalists of the Book Excellence Awards have doubled their book sales, garnered attention from film producers, received distribution in book stores and increased their visibility and media attention.
This has been a cool little award as they provide a ton of marketing materials which are extremely helpful as marketing is definitely a weakness of mine.
I'm excited to announce that Off The Hook has been recognized as an Official Selection at the 2018 New Apple Book Awards in the Children's Picture Books category! You can see their full awards list here.
This marks the twelfth award for the book.
In some other news -- I'm working on my eleventh screenplay (an action thriller) but I've also got a new picture book in the works that I hope to release in the next few months. I'm working with a new illustrator out of the United Kingdom for this one and really love how it's coming together. If you like the Minions, Trolls, Angry Birds, and/or Smurfs then you'll want to check this one out. Stay tuned!
Hello and I hope everyone's well and enjoying the Christmas season!
I'm excited to announce that Off the Hook has just been named a winner in the "Children's Picture Book (6 years and up)" category in the Top Shelf Indie Book Awards!

In some other exciting news, a school in the Dominican Republic called, Saint Joseph School, adapted Off the Hook into a play at their Christmas show this year -- apparently they made costumes and everything! They are currently working on getting parent's permission so they can share pictures and video with me which I'll then share with you all!

My wife and I had a great time in Hollywood receiving the grand prize award for winning the Holiday Book Festival as well as chatting with all the other authors.
The highlight of my night was meeting and picking the brain of screenwriter, Randy Kornfield, who wrote the Christmas movie, Jingle All The Way with Arnold Schwarzeneggar. Did you know that he originally had Steve Martin in mind for the lead role when he wrote it? Well, you do now :)
I'd also like to thank Bruce, Debbie and the whole JM Northern Media staff for hosting us at this fantastic event and for the framed award!
And I gotta say that the book looks pretty sweet with its new sticker!
